Last week a trade show for gold, jewelry and precious stones was held for the first time in Teheran. The local media reported that the value of the items on display reached $50 million.
On display at the show, which took place on August 29-31, were rings, bracelets, necklaces and earrings, many of which were embedded with precious stones.
The show's manager Ali Nikmard Tehrani told the PressTV website that if one disregards oil exports, the carpet and jewelry industries are a main source of revenue for the country.
Last year exported gold jewelry valued at $120 million, mainly to the Persian Gulf countries and central Asia.
