Children's Jewelry Recalled Due to Lead Hazards

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Future Industries announce a voluntary recall for children's metal jewelry sets. The Essentials for Kids Jewelry Sets contain high levels of lead, which is poisonous if ingested by young children.

The recalled jewelry sets include a necklace, bracelet and pair of earrings made of green, blue or pink plastic beads. The necklaces have painted metallic pendants in the shape of shoes, girls, blackboards with "ABCD," or school buses. The other recalled jewelry sets include a necklace and seven pendants, one for each day of the week. The pendants are shaped as sandals, purses or butterflies. "Essentials for kids" is printed on the packaging.

The products, which were made in China, were sold at gift stores, dollar store, and small discount stores around the nation for about a dollar from August 2005 through April 2007.

Consumers should stop using the product immediately and return it to the store where purchased for a full refund, or contact Future Industries for information on receiving a full refund.
