Chopard in ring with Madonna on new album

Madonna strikes a pose in Chopard jewelry for the cover of her latest album.

Swiss luxury jeweler Chopard is getting prime placement on the cover of Madonna's much-anticipated new album, Hard Candy.

The reigning Queen of Pop dons the brand's "Happy Diamonds" cross as well as a personalized diamond knuckle ring that was designed by Chopard Co-President Caroline Gruosi-Scheufele.

The ring, crafted in the spirit of Hard Candy—which the singer describes as "a juxtaposition of tough and sweetness"—spells out Madonna's hip-hop pseudonym, "M-dolla," in 258 brilliant-cut white diamonds. A Chopard signature mobile diamond is set in the flourish of the letter M.

This isn't the first time the brand has created jewelry specifically for the star. For Madonna's 2005 Confessions on a Dance Floor album, Chopard designed the iconic pavé diamond "Hung-Up" necklace that she wore on stage.

Hard Candy is scheduled for release on April 28 on the Warner Bros. Records label.

Statement necklaces steal show at Oscars

Actress Keri Russell in H. Stern's vintage diamond floral necklace and diamond floral earrings at the 80th annual Academy Awards.

Crimson gowns and showy jewelry ruled the red carpet at the 80th annual Academy Awards last night, firing up an otherwise lackluster fashion parade.

The diamond statement necklace showed a tremendous resurgence, with many of Hollywood's leading ladies draping their necks in diamonds and colored stones.

Most notable was Nicole Kidman, who absolutely glittered from neck to waist in a rough- and polished-diamond Sautoir necklace by L'Wren Scott showcasing 7,645 diamonds totaling nearly 1,400 carats.

Marion Cotillard, Best Actress winner for La Vie En Rose, chose Chopard's 64-carat champagne-diamond necklace and 106-carat brown-diamond necklace to accentuate one of the most original gowns of the evening: a white-and-gold mermaid-style gown from Jean Paul Gaultier. She also wore Chopard's 15-carat brilliant-cut diamond ring.

Keri Russell, also in a light-colored gown, played up its strapless neckline with H. Stern's vintage diamond floral necklace (taken from the private vault of Hans Stern) and dainty diamond floral earrings.

And Best Actress nominee Julie Christie sported a custom pink scarab necklace to highlight her knee-length ruched coral-red dress. Crafted by Neil Lane, the necklace is a symbol of long life and has 31 iridescent scarab gems.

Jennifer Garner, dressed in Oscar de la Renta, chose multiple jewelry looks: a Van Cleef and Arpels 1928 Art Deco diamond necklace, "Swan Lake" diamond drop earrings, a 1925 Art Deco diamond bracelet and "Clea" diamond ring.

Penelope Cruz followed suit, accentuating her dark blue Chanel Haute Couture gown with Chopard's ruby and diamond drop earrings, fancy-shaped diamond bracelet and marquise-cut diamond ring.

Best Actress winner Marion Cotillard in long, layered diamond necklaces by Chopard.

Helen Mirren enhanced her red George Chakra gown with sleeves studded in Swarovski crystals with H. Stern's diamond "Hebe" earrings and diamond floral ring, while Jennifer Hudson sparkled in diamond chandelier earrings, diamond bangles and cuff, diamond "Ball" ring and diamond floral hairpins all by Neil Lane.

Jessica Alba took the yellow route, choosing to wear yellow gold and diamond "Creole" hoop earrings by Cartier. She also wore Cartier's diamond shell-motif bracelet and diamond feather-motif bracelet.

When it came to Hollywood's leading men, cuff links and watches were the accessories du jour. Johnny Depp opted to wear Neil Lane's gentleman cuff links in rough diamonds and platinum, while Steve Carrell sported both trends in Chopard's L.U.C. watch set in white gold with black alligator strap and white gold "Happy Diamond" cuff links.

Patrick Dempsey wore rock crystal, onyx and diamond cuff links by Fred Leighton.

Christina Aguilera To Front New Jewelry Collection

Christina Aguilera scores a jewelry deal. The pop singer has been tapped to front jewelry designer Stephen Webster's new collection of sterling silver styles, which is inspired by the singer herself.

"She was a real coup for us," Webster says of the 27-year-old new mom.

"She's our longest-term regular client and the right age for the brand. We think she's in the most glamorous period of her life right now, and she is the main source of inspiration behind the collection."

Aguilera, who has been one of the jewelries' biggest fans, is also happy about her new endorsement deal.

"Working together on this campaign and collection has been an incredible experience," the singer tells WWD. "I am honored to be a part of it all."

The collection named Stephen Webster Silver Collection will feature two 50-piece ranges named Shattered, which is inspired by Gothic church windows, and Superstud, which has a punkier edge. The sets will be launched at Baselworld in Basel, Switzerland next month. After the premiere of the jewelries, they will then be marketed internationally.

Stars rock Grammys in cuffs, drop earrings

Grammy-winner Rihanna wears diamond studs, a right-hand ring and Chopard's 27-carat "Barrel" cuff.

The music industry was singing the blues when it came to fashion at last night's 50th Annual Grammy Awards, with crooners such as Rihanna, Beyoncé and Nelly Furtado donning blue-tinted gowns.

In terms of jewelry, however, the stars hit a high note, with bold cuffs and drop earrings studded with diamonds taking first place as the top picks of the night.

Though cuffs have played a major role in red-carpet jewelry-wardrobing for some time now, the latest incarnations of the trend reveal sculptural forms that diverge from the ubiquitous smooth, circular, wrist-hugging style.

Natasha Bedingfield wears diamond earrings with 22-karat gold drops by Amrapali of Jaipur.

Grammy-winner Rihanna donned Chopard's aptly named "Barrel" cuff, a 27-carat diamond stunner that clung to her wrist at both ends but ballooned out in the center; American Idol alum Fantasia wore H. Stern's textured, snaking "Celtic Dunes" cuff in 18-karat Noble gold and diamonds; and Beyoncé, who shimmied onstage alongside Tina Turner, chose jagged-edged diamond cuffs by Lorraine Schwartz to anchor her tulle, sequined confection of a dress by Elie Saab.

When it came to earrings, music's leading ladies chose to keep the baubles short, framing their faces at chin-length or even higher.

Miley Cyrus dons diamond and shell earrings by Bochic.

Beyoncé dazzled in chandelier earrings featuring pear-shaped diamonds by Lorraine Schwartz; Alicia Keys sparkled in 36.33-carat "Sodwana" hoop earrings by Diamond in the Rough, which featured a wavy 18-karat gold design studded with 30 rough diamonds in varying shades of cognac, azure, canary and rose; "Unwritten" singer Natasha Bedingfield matched a purple Reem Acra gown with diamond earrings featuring 22-karat gold drops from Amrapali of Jaipur; and teen queen Miley Cyrus went full-on with organic jewelry, donning shell earrings with diamonds by Bochic to go with her mermaid-like locks.

While necks (minus a conspicuous gold coil number worn by Nelly Furtado) were for the most part ignored in favor of accents for the wrists and ears, right hands got a lot of love at last night's show.

Jay-Z chose diamond pins and diamond dress buttons by Neil Lane.

Fergie donned a diamond "Dome" right-hand ring by Cartier; Lisa Rinna wore H. Stern's pavé diamond "Golden Stones" right-hand ring; Natalie Cole wore Chopard's ashoka-cut fancy-yellow-diamond right-hand ring with pavé diamond band; and Rihanna went with Chopard as well, donning the brand's "So Happy" diamond right-hand ring.

Men weren't immune to the call of diamonds either, with Chris Brown, Akon, Ludacris and Ne-Yo all choosing to accessorize with diamond studs. Jay-Z took the bling one step further, wearing diamond pins and diamond dress buttons by Neil Lane.

India : Royal Mughal appearance in Tanishq jewelry

Accuracy and speed were the hallmarks of every great Mughal archer. The Archer’s ring was worn to protect the thumb as well as to increase arrow range and velocity. It was one of the emperor’s most prized personal effects; it was crafted to be a perfect fit for his thumb. He alone could wear it.

Akbar’s Sarpech:
Turban ornament was the ultimate symbol of royalty, worn exclusively by Emperor Akbar in his durbar. Large emeralds crafted in elaborate floral motifs were used in his sarpech to fulfill his fascination with this green stone.

Jade Neckwear:
A combination of delicate beauty and extreme toughness, the Jade stone has a special charm that gem lovers have cherished since time immemorial. This stone was worn as a talisman to counter the effects of poison and bring victory in warfare.

Aad:
An ornament that adorns the neck and flows down to decorate her chest, the Aad is the most elaborate ornament of the Rajput queen. It was the central piece of the bride’s wedding trousseau that symbolised her transition from girl to woman.

This ornament was also meant to display the wealth and rank of the bride’s family; the bigger and heavier the aad looked, the greater was the status of the bride’s family.

Jodhaa’s Wedding Ensemble:
Jodhaa was bedecked in an opulent ten piece head to toe jewelry ensemble on her wedding day. The intricacy of polki diamonds is juxtaposed with carved rubies.

Jodhaa’s wedding ensemble is inspired by the most classic traditional flower motif used in royal kundan jewelry. Maang teekas, bangles, choker, jhumkis, nath, hath phools, rings and neckwear enfold the bride in luxury as she crosses the threshold from girl to woman.

Navratna:
The power of the nine planets. The energy of nine gemstones.
A traditional talisman of good fortune on an auspicious occasion

Diamond to enhance beauty, charm, poise and the expression of love. Pearl to encourage friendship and intimacy. Coral to represent ambition and achievement. Ruby for confidence and assertiveness. Hessonite to remove obstacles and ensure success. Blue Sapphire for stability and a good reputation.
Cat’s eye to enhance wisdom and spirituality. Yellow Sapphire to bring wealth and positivity. Emerald for protection, learning and clarity in communication

Tourmaline:
Tourmaline, for the princess of many moods – Jodhaa. It showcased her demanding character and volatile personality; she had the power to be whoever she wanted to be. This piece has beautiful teardrop shaped tourmaline stones embedded in it giving it a royal Mughal appearance.

This piece is also a remarkable example of the finesse of making of kundan jewelry. The linking of each tukdi is so flexible and flawless that it wraps Jodhaa’s beautiful neck perfectly, almost like fabric.

Bikaneri Meenakari:
Rare pink bikaneri enamel work enriches this hath mukh bangle. Delicately sculpted elephant trunks entwine, drawing inspiration from Jodhaa’s finely detailed wedding jewelry.

Emperor Akbar’s Sword:
Akbar the Great – mighty emperor, conqueror of nations, vanquisher of foes – wielded the sword with great élan. This magnificent weapon, with meticulously sculpted elephants, was symbolic of Emperor Akbar’s power, masculinity and leadership. 8 specialists took 11 months to breathe life into the magnificent gem-encrusted, 3.5 feet long ceremonial sword.

Lotus:
Lotus is the symbol of truth, auspiciousness and beauty (Satyam, Shivam, Sundaram). The lotus grows even in slushy areas. It remains beautiful and untainted, despite its surroundings. This piece is an effort to capture this evergreen and everlasting symbol of pious beauty.

Heidi Klum walks the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2007 in Hollywood.

The suit, filed in Manhattan federal court, seeks more than $25,000 in damages from Klum's company Heidi Klum GmbH and Mouawad USA, another company she has designed jewelry for.

Ivanka Trump Sparkles With Jewelry Line

Many people recognize Ivanka Trump as the daughter of famous parents, real estate billionaire Donald Trump and international jetsetter Ivana Trump.

But she has also made a name for herself, briefly as a model and more recently as a businesswoman with the family company. Now she's launching a project of her own, a jewelry line that bears her name. It was a chance for her to combine her business expertise with her love for all that sparkles.

"My mother, she's always loved jewelry," Trump told The Early Show co-anchor Julie Chen. "That's something she definitely passed on to me. I never thought of it as a business. I always thought of it as just for fun, but it's great when you can combine those two things."

Trump, 25, opened her first boutique on 62nd Street and Madison Avenue and will soon be opening boutiques in Las Vegas and Japan. The inspiration for this very expensive jewelry line is none other than her mother.

"Much to the chagrin of my father and all subsequent boyfriends of my mother, she's always loved jewelry," Trump said. "That's something she definitely passed on to me."

Trump's pieces range in price $750 to several million dollars. The line contains engagement rings, earrings, necklaces and bracelets. She showed Chen a white agate cocktail ring that costs around $4,000, as well as an engagement ring that cost $2.5 million.

"I have been having fun with the design pieces," she said. "We did a lot with tassels, so the earrings I'm wearing are part of our collection. We (went) with a diamond necklace bracelet over there. It's what appeals to my mother's friends, my age friends, really across the spectrum. There's really a range within our line, and we wanted that so that everyone of all ages could really afford our pieces."

Trump, who was recently featured on a sexy cover of Harper's Bizarre, is also moving up in her father's company. She was recently named director of Trump gaming company in Atlantic City. She also serves as the vice president of development and acquisitions and enjoys her roles as business mogul and sex symbol.

"Now that I have my feet wet, or my whole body wet, I'm much more confident," she said. "I can have a little fun with that duality and do something like take a picture like that without being too self-conscious."

It's bare necks, bejeweled ears at Emmys

Eva Longoria in H. Stern's rock crystal and diamond earrings at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards. Dangling earrings, cuff bracelets and statement rings proved victorious at last night's star-studded event.

Most of TV's glamour gals opted for bare necklines at the 59th Primetime Emmy Awards, choosing instead dangling earrings, cuff bracelets and statement rings as their red-carpet accessories du jour.

Ugly Betty's America Ferrera, winner of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, kept her neck bare but wore platinum and diamond dangling earrings and rings by Lorraine Schwartz to complement her strapless bright-blue gown. Model and actress Rebecca Romijn, sans neckwear too, chose white enamel, rose-cut diamond and ruby drop earrings by Bochic, and a rock crystal diamond bracelet and 20-carat pink and white diamond ring by Neil Lane. Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame also jumped on the no-necklace bandwagon, opting for H. Stern rock crystal and diamond cobblestone earrings to accent her sparkly Kaufman Franco cocktail dress.

Other major trends at the show included satin gowns, berry hues, high slits and jewels with a serpent motif.

And stars such as Marcia Cross and Queen Latifah sported serpentine diamond bangles. Latifah's bracelet was from Diamond in the Rough's rough "Iceberg" collection, as were her earrings.

Platinum and diamonds, always a red-carpet favorite, were seen on many of Hollywood's hottest men. Emmy Awards' host Ryan Seacrest donned a platinum tie accent by Superfit and platinum cuff links by Hearts On Fire, Steve Carell of The Office wore platinum and diamond cuff links by Neil Lane and Jeremy Piven, winner of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for Entourage, chose Chopard's Dual Time Zone watch with diamond bezel and black crocodile band.

Platinum's strong showing even extended into award-show attire. Entertainment Tonight's Mark Steines wore a platinum tuxedo designed by Arnold Brant during a pre-show event.
