The Hong Kong Heritage Museum is offering a lesson in local fashion and jewelry design this year. Through March 31, “Fashion Attitude — Hong Kong Fashion Design” will feature the works of nine Hong Kong fashion designers, including Barney Chang, Lu Lu Cheung, Peter Lau, and Ika, whose work is pictured below. Starting May 18 and running through Jan. 5, 2009, is “Jewelry for Life — Meaning and Adornment.” This exhibition will explore the history of jewelry, specifically Hong Kong’s history in manufacturing jewelry for global export. Approximately six manufacturer brands and four designer brands will show representative works in the forms of photographs, sketches and film footage. Admission: 10 Hong Kong dollars, or about $1.25 at 7.9 Hong Kong dollars to $1. (www.heritagemuseum.gov.hk).
