Stolen jewelry sold to owner's daughter

MELBOURNE, Fla., July 10 Police in Florida arrested a man after he allegedly tried to sell jewelry stolen from a store to the owner's daughter.

Ralph Garcia allegedly broke into Betty's Antiques in Melbourne last week and removed $75,000 in jewelry, Florida Today reported. Friday, he brought the items to AA Auction, also in Melbourne, which happens to be owned by Betty Young's daughter.

The daughter summoned police to the auction house, where Young identified the stolen jewelry. She got the goods back while Garcia was taken to the Brevard County Jail.

Police said they found a pry bar, bolt cutters and a pair of socks in Garcia's briefcase. Investigators described Garcia as a transient. He is being held in lieu of $18,000 bail.
